The flavour and texture of kefir products can indeed vary significantly between Europe, the Middle East, and the UK due to regional tastes and cultural preferences. Typically, kefir from Europe and the Middle East is quite effervescent and exhibits a strong lactic flavor. However, here in the UK, we've found that a milder flavor profile is generally preferred. As such, Good Company kefir is tailored to cater to this market demand.
In the UK, antibiotics can be given to treat sick dairy animals when it's required, but milk from these animals not used for human consumption and all milk is strictly tested for antibiotic residues before processing. Any milk with detected residues is discarded. Hormones to boost milk production are not allowed in the UK. Therefore, our milk is free from antibiotic residues and artificial hormones. Our cows have a standard diet which includes outside grazing, consistent with many farms across the UK.
Guar gum is a natural substance derived from guar beans, made from roasting and grinding guar beans, and it serves as a stabiliser in our kefir to prevent visual separation as the product is stored in glass. Please note that the use of guar gum does not impact the health benefits of our kefir but it enhances the overall consistency and visual appearance. It is added at below 0.1%. Additionally, guar gum has been studied for its potential benefits to gut health and digestion.
Our kefir is made using pasteurised and homogenised milk, in line with UK quality and safety standards. However, after this process, we introduce 13 live strains of kefir cultures. This ensures the milk contains all the probiotic bacteria associated with kefir, while being a consistent and safe to consume product.
Good Company's Barista Soya drink has many health benefits for you: It has zero sugar, and is fortified with B12, B2, D3 (vegan) and iodine to match the nutritional benefits of cow’s milk. It is also a complete source of protein - providing all 9 of the essential amino acids, appealing to those looking for a healthier milk alternative.
Our kefir is not certified as organic. The ingredients are: British cows milk and 13 distinct strains of kefir cultures - info on strains is available on our website. Additionally, we include less than 0.1% natural guar gum (this is made from roasting and grinding guar beans) to stop our kefir splitting within our traditional glass pint bottles.
Kefir is known for it’s creamy mouthfeel and tart taste, similar to yoghurt. Our natural Kefir is on the milder side – the flavour will compliment pretty much any dish – but it still has a pleasant tang.
Our kefir can help boost the immune system, improve digestion, and even aid in weight loss. Plus, it’s a great source of calcium, vitamin B12, and healthy gut bacteria.
We can’t give away all the secrets of our production, but it’s made here in the UK, at our own state of the art food production facility in Preston that’s powered by 330 kW of solar power, more energy than we consume! We take non-GMO soya that’s been sustainably sourced from non-rainforest regions, blend it with water to extract a delicious base soya and add natural vanilla flavour and vitamins to create a really lovely tasting and nutritious barista soya drink.
Good Company's soya drink is made using non-GMO soybeans that are sustainably sourced (from non-rainforest regions).
